Journey to one of Europe's most remote and spectacular wilderness areas for an extraordinary photographic adventure focused entirely on Iceland's only native land mammal—the Arctic Fox.
This tailor-made workshop takes you deep into the isolated Hornstrandir Nature Reserve to Hornvik Bay, in the far northwest of Iceland, where these remarkable animals thrive in complete protection from hunting.

This expedition is designed for the dedicated wildlife photographer, regardless of skill level, who wants to photograph Arctic Fox in the hostile yet hauntingly beautiful environment it calls home.
True Wilderness Photography

Our exclusive base is in Hornvik Bay. Hornvik Bay is in a very remote location with hardly any visitors in winter.

We will travel to Hornvik Bay by boat sailing in exposed waters off the North Coast of Hornstandir Nature Reserve. A journey time from Ísafjörður of between 2.5 - 3 hours.

March offers prime opportunities to spot humpback whales, Orcas, White-beaked dolphins and seabirds such as guillemots. You will often see seals resting on rocks or in the water near the shoreline.

Living Wild in Iceland's Winter Wilderness

Winter in Iceland's remote Westfjords is an authentic wilderness experience.

In March the weather in Hornstrandir Nature Reserve is a period characterised by heavy snow, roughly 10 hours of daylight, and limited accessibility.

Here it is still cold and snowy, and a chance of about 23.2 cm of snow fall on average in the month. So bear that in mind when packing for your trip.

The property where we stay embraces the reality of Arctic living—during winter months, the water supply to the house is turned off to prevent pipes from freezing in the extreme cold. This is part of what makes this location so special and untouched.

Instead, our water for drinking and cooking is drawn directly from a crystal-clear mountain stream—pure Icelandic water as nature intended.
The house is equipped with a toilet and sink, and water for flushing is stored in barrels inside, and managed by our property guide. It's a simple system that works perfectly and adds to the authentic nature of the experience.

This is wilderness photography at its finest—embracing the elements, living close to nature, and fully immersing yourself in the Arctic environment that these magnificent foxes call home.
If you're want a genuine adventure, breathtaking landscapes, and the thrill of photographing Arctic foxes in their winter domain, you'll find this remote location unforgettable.

Departure delays due to weather, are to be expected. We can take no responsibility for weather-induced delays and ask for your patience if we are delayed by weather for any reason.
We strongly recommend you allow a minimum of two days after our expedition in case we are delayed on our return.
