BOSWELL WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY
Let's get you out there!
A True Scottish Wilderness Adventure
Discover the breathtaking beauty of the West Coast of Scotland, where majestic mountains tower and Golden Eagles gracefully glide above ancient glens. This should be on every wildlife photographers bucket list and for good reason.
While the Isle of Mull is a well-known gem in the region, our journey takes you to the lesser-known Morvern Peninsula, a true Highland treasure. Nestled between Loch Sunnart to the north and Loch Linnhe to the southeast, Morvern offers an unparalleled opportunity for wildlife photography away from the crowds. Join us as we explore this stunning landscape teeming with diverse wildlife, waiting to be captured through your lens.

This is one of our favourite places to shoot and we are sure it will become one of yours.
Your base on Lochaline

Stay in a traditional Highland cottage by the water’s edge, fully catered and perfectly situated for wildlife watching.
While there are never guarantees with wildlife, and the Golden Eagle is our prime objective, there are lots of other species to encounter
Otters
Hen Harriers
Short Eared Owls
Wheatears
Stonechats
Red Deer
Red Squirrels
By evening, look out for pine martens visiting the cottage and otters gliding through the loch — magical moments right on your doorstep.

Our aim is to help you capture stunning images that fill your memory cards to the brim. We're here to provide tips and advice whenever you need it, ensuring you make the most of every photographic opportunity. While we may shoot along side you our priority is YOUR images.
DAY 1 - Arrival

Following your arrival and settling in you will have the opportunity to have a wander around the area or put your feet up with a cuppa and relax. In the evening over dinner we will chat about the plans for the trip and answer any questions you may have and then you can pack your kit ready for the following day.
DAY 2- Into the wild: The Bothy Experience

Your second day is very special. You will hike two miles into the hills to reach a remote mountain bothy — your home for the night in the heart of Golden Eagle country.

This is a true wilderness immersion, surrounded by deer and open moorland. April is an incredible time to visit, with the male eagle actively hunting to feed his nesting mate — offering some of the best chances to witness these magnificent birds in action.

You’ll enjoy hearty Real Turmat Expedition Food®, share stories by candlelight, and fall asleep to the silence of the hills after a long day of photography.

Due to the vagaries of Scottish weather we may have to swap days around, but we will get you out there.

We follow a strict “Leave No Trace” mountain code.
Please be prepared to carry out all litter and leave the landscape exactly as you found it.
The bothy has no toilet facilities — guests must be comfortable with using the outdoors. A shovel and full guidance will be provided to ensure minimal environmental impact.
DAY 3

The following day, you will be in the wilderness around the bothy, offering more opportunities to photograph the wildlife. Then later that day we will head down the hill to the warmth of the cottage — a hot meal, a wood-burning stove, chat and if you want do image reviews and perhaps have a wee dram to toast your adventure.
DAY 4 - Eagles of the Sea

On the fourth day, we take to the water for a boat trip on the waters around the west coast, seeking close encounters with the majestic white-tailed sea eagle — Britain’s largest bird of prey. You will have fabulous opportunities to photograph these eagles as they come close to the boat.
It’s the perfect finale to your Highland adventure

Day 5 - Departure day
After breakfast on your final morning, there may be time for a last bit of otter spotting before you head home, carrying with you memories — and photographs — of Scotland’s wildest places.
